Description
Pigment ink on Niyodo paper, chine-collé and lithography on Coventry, 24 x 40 inches /61 x 101.6 cm., edition 100, signed and numbered, 2012

The First $100,000 I Ever Made refers to the 25-by-75 foot billboard John Baldessari created in 2011 for the High Line in NY. The piece was inspired by the historic, $100,000 bill - the highest denomination currency ever issued by the United States For three weeks, between 1934 and 1935, the US government printed 42,000 of these bills, for use by the Federal Reserve. They were never circulated among the public, and apart from a few that remain as relics, most of them have been destroyed.
